miscarrage or mistakeFrom: rodriguez (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 23 May 2001 21:37:58 -0500 (CDT)
My sister was hospitalised about 6-8weeks ago with 104 temp. and they told her she had a kidney infection, they took her blood and ran normal tests. the next day they took a chest x ray, which they protected her with lead. The day after they took a CT scan of her abdomin, they asked her if she could be pregnant, and she said no because she had not long finished her period and they went ahead with the tests, meanwhile she was also on IV antibiotics. Later in the day, the nurse rushed in and removed the IV, and her doctor told her that her blood test was positive for pregnancy and referred her to a gyn. a week later the gyn gave her a urine test and it returned negative. The doctor said it was probably too early. She still didn't have her period and two weeks later they gave her another urine test and it came back negative, and when they did an ultrasound they did not see anything and claimed either it is still too early or she miscarried. she came back a week after that for another ultrasound and they still didn't see anything. So they told her that she miscarried and prescribed her medication to start her period, since she had passed her time. any way, we're wondering if it is possible, she had no discharge of any kind, no bleeding or spotting or brownish spotting. She did feel tired, but not sick. Could she have miscarried, could the x rays, infection, or antibiotics caused it. or could there have been a mistake?
