Too much bleeding

I started my periods at about 13, after a few months they stopped (having been extremely light and irregular in the first place) and didn't return until after my 14th birthday. i am now 15 and have been having regular periods until about 4 months ago when i started a period which didn't stop. After 2 months of bleeding with a 2-day interval after about the third week, i got the courage to visit my doctor (who is male- v.embarrassing) and he sent me for blood tests. we got the results back and although he said there were no unusual results he prescribed me some mefanamic acid capsules which he said would slow the bleeding. However these had no effect and i was beginning to feel v.tired and ill. He then prescribed a course of Norethisterone which stopped the bleeding altogether but when i finished the course it started again and after two weeks he sent me to the hospital. At the hospital the doctor sadi that i could have PCOS but that i will have to wait to have a scan. in the meantime i was put on the pill Dianette and had no period for two months. However i started another period almost three weeks ago whilst still taking the pill and am using super plus tampax which leak after 2 hours. i told my doctor and he says this is 'breakthrough' bleeding, not a disease and that i should not worry. I don't think this is right though, i am very lethargic and the cramps are horrendous though the mefanamic acid helps- he made me do a pregnancy test (that is NOT possible!!!) but i have no date for my scan. Please tell me, is this normal, am i worrying about nothing? Pippa
