Dermoid/Teratoma Tumors

I'm 29 with two children, and had tubal ligation in 97. I have always had problems with my periods. I was diagnosed several years ago with a fibroid on the fundus of my uterus, a nabothian cyst on my cervix and cystic ovaries. I've been having severe abdominal pain and extremely long periods (14 days +). I went to the GYN and they did a Ab US and Vaginal probe. I've now been diagnosed with a Dermoid/Teratoma on the left adnexa. The left ovary wasn't seen. Scheduled for MRI next week. The pain is constant. I have researched this and have come up with conflicting information. Is this cancer? Some data calls this "Cancer", with surgery, chemo and radiation as the treatment, yet others categorize it as benign with a 1% chance of cancer. The doctors are not very helpful in clarifing what it is I'm facing. Any information you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.
