Smoking -What to do?

Hello! I am a 24 year old smoker (about 30 a day). I know I should quit and have been gradually cutting down (from 3 packs a day) for the past 4 months. Today at the gyno she prescribed OrthoTriCycline for me. I was completely honest with her about my smoking. I have never been on BC pills before so I am concerned about the risks associated with my smoking. She told me that I could take them for a few years but then I will have to choose pills OR smoking. (I plan to be a reformed nonsmoker by then anyway.) My friend who has a similar smoking habit was given Depo Provera however, with few precautions. I know the best thing to do is quit, but is one really less risky than the other? Thank you! :)
