birth control pills as morning-after pillFrom: confused (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 16 Apr 2001 16:20:06 -0500 (CDT)
During intercourse with my partner last night, our condom broke and he came inside me. I am fairly certain that I am ovulating right now: I checked my cervical mucus and have been practicing fertility awareness methods ever since I went off the pill in the hopes of understanding my body better. I have some unexpired birth control pills left over from back when I was on them (lo-ovral) and was wondering if I could take three of those to prevent implantation. I would rather not try to get the morning-after pill since I am currently on vacation and won't be back home until tomorrow night, which will be 48 hours after the intercourse. I understand all of the warning of taking bcps in high doses but would rather take those than go through an abortion. Please advise whether 48 hours is an acceptable time frame within which to take three doses of lo-ovral. Thanks in advance.
