In College & Scared of Gall surgeryFrom: Dianne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 8 Apr 2001 23:09:29 -0500 (CDT)
Hi there.. I stumbled on this forum while searching the net for gallbladder problems and I think I'm in the right place :) Im in my last year of college and was diagnosed with gallbladder stones. Im anemic. I started feeling pain in September, after enrolling in all my classes. Now, it has taken over my life. I can barely walk to school sometimes let alone make it through a class, but I'm deathly scared of surgery "the old fashioned way".. Sometimes like now I just want to run to the hospital and get this thing taken out but I've been down that road once, in January, was in for two days, had all the tests done, and was told by a young male physician that I can go home and not worry about it for a while to come, that it wasn't too serious. But this pain has gotten a hundred times worse, Im getting feverish and get cold/hot sweats all the time. I guess what I'm trying to find here is some advice from women in my age group who've had this surgery and how it has affected the rest of their lives. I had a traumatic experience when I was young with surgery, and am deathly phobic of hospitals. I suffer in silence and it's just overwhelmed as my friends simply don't understand how bad this pain gets. Everyone has a different opinion, even the doctors. I haven't tried the olive oil/lj flush but from what I've read, it'll just end up making me sicker by releasing all sorts of toxins into my bloodstream (?) Should I try this last step? I so beaten and weak for not having the courage to go and get this done. Any advice? Thanks Fearfully Dianne D.
