You will need to go through with a GYN exam. First, you are 20 years old. The rule of thumb on this is to have the first GYN exam at the age of 18 or first sexual intercourse, whichever comes first. You will be examined from head to toe basically....My GYN looks at my eyes, in my nose, mouth, checks my neck (thyroid, glands, etc.), listens to my heart and lungs, as well as bowel sounds. He then does a breast exam. He examines my belly. He then does a Pap Smear and then the Pelvic Exam. This same thing, or very close to it, will be done at Planned Parenthood as well.

Again, as I said, the cause of whatever is going on with you, really needs to be found. Could be due to you being so athletic, but the cause needs to be found.

Usually the Pill is started on the Sunday following the first day of your period. Seeing as this is a problem for you, maybe a pregnancy test can be done to assure that there is not a pregnancy (not saying there is, just needs to be documented), and then you can start the Pill.

it is best to use an alternate method of contraception for the first month on the Pill. Having said that, it is always best to use condoms to avoid any chance of STD's, and worse, AIDS. Never trust any boy that says he has never been with anyone else. Many girls have been told this only to find they have been "given" an STD or AIDS.
