Two salient points here -

#1 this is a medical condition and not an "attitude". I'd think your boyfirend would want to grow up and try to work with you rather than take it personally.

#2 hormones of all types can do this in some women. The thing to try is non-hormonal methods of birth control and then see how it goes. BTW, effects of DepoPorvera can last 6-18 months.
