I'm in my ealry twenties and was on depo-provera for seven years, but have been off for two and a half years now. however, the side effects (no sex drive whatsoever, several erratic and sometimes heavy periods a month) have no gone away and last week i had an ovarian cyst rupture. they now want me on the pill or more depo to prevent another cyst. my questions are: -some women on the web said they thought depo caused their ovarian cysts. is this possible? -would a certain kind of pill (estrogen based or whatever) help counteract the stuff depo seems to have done to me? -what hormonal tests do i even ask the ob-gyn to run? (i live in a really small farming area and the docs are good but not specialists) -could it hurt that i was on depo so long and so young (age 15-22?) -is there a sort of med to ask about as regards the sex drive? this is not a psychological issue or ignorance about my body. -is there anything other than the pill or depo i can take to prevent the cyst? i really appreciate any information or appropriate medical terminology i can take to my doctor. thank you!
