Early puberty is quite a concern. Even though your daughter is quite large for her age now, she will not grow more than another 1-3 inches if her puberty is allowed to proceed unchecked. Your doctor is offering an injection that will postpone puberty for a while, typically until age 12 or 13, in order to allow her to reach her natural height, whatever that may be. It is also socially difficult for girls that go through puberty so early, and this treatment plan can help with that as well.
