Birth Control QuestionFrom: Brooke (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 21 Dec 2000 00:26:07 -0600 (CST)
I am almost 19 years old and I still have irregular periods with fairly uncomfortable symptoms. My cycle occurs every three to four weeks and is unpredictable. I have mild headaches, a nauseated feeling, fatique, water retention, and cramping during the beginning of my period. I know that these symptoms are not uncommon, but if they could be helped that would make my life a little easier. I have heard that birth control pills can do some of these things but I was wondering what was right for me. Though I would not be using it mainly for pregnancy prevention, I would like to have something that was effective if the need arises. Here's the problem...I have a history of heard disease and high blood pressure in my family along with various types of cancer and I don't know what type of birth control would help or hinder my problems. I would greatly appreciate your advice. Thanks.
