Is it a yeast infection???

Hi, I went to the doctor yesterday for a follow-up pap smear. As soon as I put my legs in the stirrups, the nurse practitioner said "oh yeah, you've got a yeast infection." That's all she did. She said that there was a white discharge and that meant I had a yeast infection. I don't know whether or not to believe her because I haven't had any type of itching or burning or anything. As for the discharge, I always have discharge a few days prior to my period. Do you think I should get the medicine anyway?

Thank you
