Swollen breastsFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 7 Dec 2000 21:18:33 -0600 (CST)
About two weeks ago, I began to experience swelling of my left breast. It was so much swelling that I could no longer wear the bras I had and had to buy new ones. At first, the swelling went down after about 3 or 4 days, but it started back this week and now its both breasts. Its very painful at night. Its sort of a throbbing feeling and my shoulders hurt. I can only think of three possible causes: pregnancy, growth (I'm 20 years old), or that it could be related to my recent abnormal pap smear. I'm hoping to rule out pregnancy! I'm on Ortho-tricyclen, but I started back on the pills the same day I had sex (protected) which was about three months ago. I haven't missed any periods or experienced any other symptoms, so I really don't know what to think. The swelling doesn't seem to be going down though. What could it be? Also, if one became pregnant while on the pill, would they miss their periods or would it continue to be regulated by the pill?
