Depo Provera and Depression

I redeived the Depo Provera shot in July of this year. Within a week of getting the shot I became severely depressed and sick. I have only experienced this kind of Depression when I have had Post Partum Depression. The shot was supposed to have become inneffective as of October 5th and the depression has still not stopped. It has faded a little though. I haven't had a period yet and I don't know what to expect regarding my cycle - I have never had severe PMS and now I am afraid that I will when I finally start having periods again. My main concern with this is that it has to be hormonal changes that have caused this to happen to me. I am wondering what hormones are affected and if my hormone levels can be checked to regulate my hormone levels with estrogen? And since I am feeling the same way that I did when I had post partum depression, is there a connection there...Is my body back into the "I just gave birth mode", because that is how I feel. Any ideas as to how this can be related and why this happens and any solutions or options would be greatly appreciated. I don't know what to say to anyone who chooses to use Depo for birth control - but I will not ever choose to use it again. The funny part about it is that I was able to use the Norplant with no problems.
