Hi, My 13 yr old daughter has been having ongoing problems with her period and whole cycle for the last 6-7 months. She has had her period since 11 and everything went ok with it til recently. She complains of twitching in her side (left), and sometimes a burning sensation. It's not so bad that it has her bent over in pain but enough to bother her. I have had her to her pediatrician on numerous occasions and her blood levels look fine. We even had an abdominal ultrasound done and at the time (she had just had her period), everything looked normal. I myself had some sort of cyst's when I was younger,( but not that young), that would go away and come back on their own. My Dr put me on Lo Ovral birth control pills. They seemed to work for my problem. The twitching and burning sensations she has usually occurs within 1-2 weeks before her next period. I don't remember having any sort of symptoms like her's. Sometimes she will get very sick to her stomach when this happens. It will usually last 1-2 days and go away. Her periods are getting pretty painful the last couple of cycles also. Her Dr suggested a few months ago,we just wait and watch her cycles to see what happens. I hate to see her suffering so much. She is missing school each month because of this and it's really getting on both our nerves. She is not sexually active. But we may see how contraceptives work for this. Is this a good idea at such an early age? And , Are these the symptoms of a cyst of some sort? Any information about this will be greatly appreciated.
