Sharp pain during sexFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 6 Nov 2000 03:55:49 -0600 (CST)
Hi, My girlfriend and I have recently begun having sex. A few times it has fine, but usually it seems to cause her very sharp pain. Sometimes this pain is only when we first begin, and with a few penetrations it goes away and she can enjoy the rest. Other times it does not go away and it is too painful to continue. Even when the pain does go away, a few times I've moved wrongly or something happened and it comes back sharply again. It seems to generally hurt more when I'm on top of her, but I still see her twinge when she's on top of me. Her level of arousal does not seem to affect it in any way. We have noticed that if it is the first time in a few days, it generally hurts less. If we have had sex recently, it seems to hurt more. Being gentle in my entrance doesn't seem to help. She has said it hurts more when I go slowly, and that if I'm not completely hard it hurts more as well. In the past i have used my fingers several times, without having hurt her. Neither of us has had any sexual partners before, so we don't have much experience to go on, and STDs are ruled out. She is very opposed to going to see a doctor about it, with understandable reasons... (we're college students, she's still on her parents' insurance, they would see the visit, and would very strongly disapprove...) She's been in tears, it hurts so badly. I love her dearly and desparately want to help her. My poor research into the topic shows me several possiblities that all seem to sort of fit, but generally are too vague. I know that one of her sisters does have endometriosis, but do not know much about it or how quickly it would be detected, or if it could even be applicable here? Am I describing anything in particular? What can I do? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. J. E.
