Jen, The bleeding is likely coming from vessels on the cervix. Your physician is referring to vessels being close to the surface on your cervix and with the contact that occurs with intercourse, there is some resultant bleeding. Changing birth control pills may help, especially since this has been a problem for 6 months and you have been on your current pill for 6 months. I would give it a try. If it works, then great. If not, then see your physician again. In the mean time, as long as the bleeding is not heavy, I think that intercourse is safe... Lynn
