Can missed periods be genetic?From: Lisa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 18 Oct 2000 12:25:25 -0500 (CDT)
I'm 23 yrs old and have always had fairly normal periods, with the exception of diet, it would skipp 2 weeks and start. I have not changed my diet or lifestyle and missed my period for three months. My mother never had a period from the age of 20 until she was almost 35, and my grandmother never had one until after her 4th child. I had a lab test done that has neg. results for pregnacy. But my mother also never tested positive for hcg levels even through blood tests for 3 children. I have no cramping, spotting, weight gain, or any abnormal discharge. My sister had excessive bleeding from age of 15 until 20, she did have ovarian and cervical cancer..I have been checked and don't have any signs. Can this just be genetic?
