Hi Jennifer,

If you are having frequent intercourse, it is common to get something known as "Honeymoon Cystitis". You might try urinating before sex and right after sex (I know, kind of ruins the mood some ;o)...), and drink plenty of water.

Painful intercourse can come from a number of things, but if you just started having sex, it could be that it will take a little time before things are better. Just have your partner be very gentle and don't rush anything. Using something like KY or Astroglide might help too.

I wouldn't say that these things are your body's way of saying you are not ready for sex. That feeling comes from your mind and your heart.

Give it some time. If things don't get better over time, talk with your OBGYN about it and see what s/he has to say.
