Birth control pills and pregnancy

I have been on birth control pills since my second son was born 6 months ago. Since then my fiancee' and I have had protected sex, each and every time we had sex. However there was one or two times that we just layed in bed together with his penis in me and I've had a period since then but it was dark colored blood and light in flow. I feel pregnant,but am unsure if it is from the pills themselves or that I am pregnant. My fiancee' keeps telling me that there is no possible way that I can be pregnant and I'm afraid of taking a test alone. Is there any other way to tell without taking a home pregnancy test? If so, please let me know. I'm only 21 and have a 2.5 yr old and a 6 mo old and am very scared. Any advice would help, Thanks
