onset of menses?

My daughter who will be 10 at the end of November has been experiencing cyclic headaches and vague abdominal pain accompanied by fatigue. I say cyclic because this seems to occur at fairly regular intervals (about 25-30 days apart) and lasts for 24-48 hours. She becomes moody and irritable and a bit territorial for these couple days and will fall asleep in the middle of the day and sleep for up to 3 hours.

Normally my daughter is very active and is rarely ill. She has had a physical within the past couple weeks and checked out fine. Our FP had no insight but thought that perhaps this could be a pre-cursor to the onset of menses and puberty.

Is this the "normal" track for girls approaching puberty or is there something else I should be watching for?

Thanks in advance!

A mom hoping to keep the puberty monster at bay for just a little while longer.
