>Thanks for reply my letter. I had my first intercourse Aug 13th & i am Mary- I'm sitting around the labor unit waiting for a baby to be born, so it's timely to discuss this issue. In most women the highest chance of becoming pregnant is if intercourse occurs about 12-14 days after a period =starts=. This is the middle of the cycle, which means it's about 12-14 days before the next period starts. 10 days is cutting it close. There is never "no chance of pregnancy" when you have intercourse. As I tell my patients, the only sure ways to never get pregnant are death or not ever having intercourse. As to your other question, many men have "preejaculate" at the tip of the penis during sexual relations. This contains semen, which are perfectly capable of fertilizing an egg. Further, I suspect most men, but particularly younger men, have a problem stopping intercourse in order to "pull out" before ejaculation occurs. Thus, it's a good rule to =never= have intercourse without using a condom or some other reliable method of birth control (the pill, depo-provera, Norplant, diaphragm, IUD, etc). Unless I am mistaken, organizations like Planned Parenthood are not required to notify parents when teens make appointments to discuss birth control. This probably varies by state, but I'm not sure. It would be very much worth your while to make an appointment to talk with a health care provider. Best wishes,
