Re: Gynecology and Sex

Hello Anonymous,

I just reread what Dr. Hill wrote, and from what I can understand, and from what I know, he did not say that 18 is a good time to start having sex, or mention legal issues. What I was able to take from his message is that one needs to go to the GYN at 18 or by the time they BECOME sexually active, whichever occurs first.

The legal issue comes in to play when a minor child (depending on what each state considers the age of a child to be considered a Minor) has sex with someone that is of age. That is called Statutory Rape. There are other legal issues, such as rape, which is illegal, which we all know.

The only good time to start having sex is when you are ready, and not until that time. Along with that, if pregnancy is not desired, a visit to the GYN for a full check up and counseling on contraceptives is necessary. Also, use Condoms every time to avoid any diseases, such as AIDS, and other STD's.

Good luck.
