Re: Periods SkipFrom: Denise (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 6 Aug 2000 10:56:39 -0500 (CDT)
This is in reply to Alexia, Dear Alexia I am 32 years of age, and I started my menstral period at the age of 12. I was like you have a period, skip a period. At the age of 12 I had 3 menustral within that year, my parents thought I was pregnant, they didn,t listen to me, can you believe that at the age of 12. By the time I was 13 I had my first pap smear, which I regret to this day. At that age I had one menstral out of the entire year. By the time I was 14 I would have a menstral every 6 months. And if someone tells you its because you are inactive, obese, or under weight, this is not true, because every individual body is different. I was weighing 107 at 14 I became a cheerleader, and stayed a cheerleader for 4 years until I graduated high school. I entered into college and was tired of the every 6 months period. My doctor advised me to take birth control, I did, it came on but it would stay on for 14 days, one month it stayed on for 30 days, I had to take a pill to stop my period. I gained a lot of weight through birth control. I stop taking them because I had gained so much weight. I stop taking birth control and that year I didn't see my period at all, yes I went a whole year, I went to see a doctor, he told me I was overweight, my question to him, was what happen when I was normal weight, he had no answers. But suggested estrogen pills, I said no more pills, 2 months later I had an abnormal pap smear, and had to get my cervix froze. I am 32 years of age and I have no children, I have low abdominal pain, and when I go to the doctor, there answer is gas because my pap come back normal. I never had to experience cramps like most women, just lower back pain. So at your age please to not allow anyone to make you a subject, by giving all types of medication, When your body is ready it will do what it is suppose to do, I wished I would have done that. Now my main goal in life is not my period, it is getting my weight back to what it should be, over the years I've gained weight and lost weight, my hormones are out of sequence, my metabolism is slow. Birth control pills may control your menstral, but it might make you gain weight and it may get your hormones out of order, but like I said before, I don't know because everyone body is different. Just try to stay natural, do not take any pills. Maybe if I would have I would have a child by now. And if you are wondering, I period has not been on since February of this year. Sincerely, Denise (know how you feel
