I was a Virgin until age 25 (2 years ago). I had a very loving partner and he was most patient with me. I was SO scared that it would hurt and had months and months of false starts. I think much of it was psychological. When I just relaxed and was a bit distrated by my partner gently talking with me, intercourse was wonderful! It does take a bit of practice if you are emotionally ready. Truly nothing to be afraid of, but I understand where you're coming from. If YOU are ready perhaps you and your partner might try using a small vibrator (turned on or off) to get used to the feeling of something entering your vagina. It was very helpful for me in getting over those terrified feelings of "pain" and not knowing. Sex is truly bliss (and NOT painful at all) when your with the right person. Good luck.
