Ovarian cystFrom: Mare (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 17 Jul 2000 17:35:09 -0500 (CDT)
I'm a 20-year old Latin woman. For about 2 months I'd been having mild abdominal pain, mainly after exercise. About a week ago, I went to the doctor and after doing an ultrasound, she found a 2-inch heterogeneous mass near my right ovary. A tomography gave similar results. She recommended surgery, and doesn't want to use laparoscopy so that she can check other tissues and immediatly proceed if the mass is cancerous. However, I went to another doctor and he claims that, because of my age, lack of symptoms, and the mass' defined borders, IT IS a dermoid, that cancer is not an option and I should get a laparoscopy. He also said that the pain I feel when I exercise is due to the fact that I have "retroversial uterus" or something similar. What would you recommend?
