BV and painful intercourse

I was once diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis. I am wondering two things: can it re-occur and would it cause painful intercourse?

I've been having problems for a few months now. I've had basically every test done (including a sonogram) and nothing has been found yet. It all started with a cervical infection and nothing has been right since. I am also very prone to urinary tract infections. (I take cranberry supplements twice a day). I'll feel OK for a few weeks, then when I attempt intercourse, it hurts to the point of tears. Is there anything that I can ask my doctor to test for? Is it also possible I can be allergic to the condoms?

Thank you for your help - I'm at my wit's end!
