cystsFrom: Kerry (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Jun 2000 19:23:22 -0500 (CDT)
I am 21 years old and have recently had an operation to remove bilateral dermoid cysts. The cyst on my right ovary was 20cm in diameter and on my left, 10cm. The surgeon was only able to leave 1/3 to 1/2 of my left ovary and removed all of my right ovary, plus my fallopian tube. Could you please give me an honest answer as to how this surgery has effected my ability to have children? no one seems to be up front with me: even the surgeon only said that I have 'enough to do me'. I'm unsure as to what this means and am now afraid that I may experience early menopause, which I've been warned could happen. As I haven't seen anyone since my surgery (which was 3 months ago) I'm not even sure if what's left is functioning properly. Also, since surgery I have been losing a lot of hair: is this normal? thanks for your help.
-- Kerry.
