sacroiliac joint inflammation/pelvic pain-Dr. MFrom: Christine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 Dec 1999 12:33:42 -0600 (CST)
Hi! I'm kind of curious about how often in your clinical practice you see pelvic pain being caused by something outside of the pelvis. Also, what would make you think of other possibilities besides the usual gyn things? I realize this is a rather broad question, but if you could think of a specific incident I think it would be helpful. I have had pelvic pain for over 2 years, although it has gotten better recently trying some of the newer antiinflammatories as well as osteopathic manipulations. I was pointed in this direction by a doctor who knew a patient with pelvic pain that imitated exactly the pain of a previous gyn problem she had had, but after an extensive workup it was found she had inflammation of one of her sacroiliac joints. I have an appointment with a rheumatologist in February, but it wasn't easy getting the referral from my pcp. I'm wondering how common this is. Chris S.
