Pelvic and rectal painFrom: Terry (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 26 Dec 1999 16:11:30 -0600 (CST)
I had a vaginal hysterectomy (uterous removal only) 3 yrs ago. About a month after the surgery, I started having bad pelvic pain, spreading to the rectal area. Doctors thought it was spastic colon. Had a colonoscopy, and it was normal, so was put on levbid for spasms. The pains didn't stop. They occur 2 times per month, and last an hour or so. Had laporoscopy in March, and doctor cotarized a cyst on an ovary, and removed some scar tissue. Since then the pains have worsened. I only have about 30 seconds notice before the strong pains set in, and I have to take pain medicine. The really bad pain lasta about 1 hour. Once the extreme pain has passed, I have a dull pain in the pelvic and recal area that lasts for a couple of days. Now the doctor started me on Lupron, just to make sure it is my ovaries that are causing the problem. Does this sound like endometriosis, or does it sound like spastic colon? My doctor just is not sure. Thanks,
