Abnormal Paps

For the past 2-3 years I have experienced a number of "abnormal" or "insufficient cells" or "no cells present" on pap smears. As I get older, and not sexually active, each exam gets more painful. My latest was the most painful yet, and it resulted in "no cells present". I'm told my uterus is tipped (have had no children) and makes getting a viable sample extremely difficult because the area "pulls away" during the exam. Is there any kind of surgical procedure which would make my exams less painful and enable my HCP to get a good sample for the lab?
