Right Upper Quadrant Pain after deliveryFrom: Ally (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 13 Dec 1999 23:57:09 -0600 (CST)
I delivered a normal baby girl 3 1/2 months ago vaginally. Shortly after I came home I started to experience pain in my upper right quadrant, which also radiated to my back. The pain was more intense in the evening and the morning. I also got terrible headaches that nothing would completely take away. (codeine, demerol, midrin). I went to my family doctor (since you cannot see the Ob/gyn for anything other than preg. and a pap) and he said that if it persisted than they would do an ultra-sound. At that visit my blood pressure was very much elavated for me (146/96) I am usually in the very low 100's over 50's and 60's. I told them this and they didn't seemed concerned or even commented. I still get the headaches, and at times the higher B/P..and the side pain. I do remember having an elavated liver enzyme after the birth of my second child. Again told...well we are not sure why. At times I feel very light headed and shakey. All of this being reported to the Dr. Should I have expected some type of answer or diagnosis? Is a second opinion in order here, or is this really something I shouldn't be concerned about...since they aren't? Ally
