Re: Frustrated!!, addendum

u/s today revealed cyst is now over 4 CM, and ovary has enlarged even more. Evidently, according to the doc, the location of this cyst/mass on the ovary, is why it hurts as much and differently from the previous one, along with enlargement of the ovary, as why the leg/muscle movements from the right leg seem to irritate it. Septums are showing up, as well as some solid areas. Does this make any more sense? It certainly helped explain to me as to why, even though it was still considered small, it hurt. I guess location has can have an effect as to how it presents itself.

Report was faxed to my gyn, who is off on Monday's, but whom I am hoping to hear from on Tuesday. Radiologist and er doc both stated it needed to be removed, as it appears suspicious. Are not ruling out a bilateral cystadenoma, although doc/rad said the chances are usually slim, 5-20% bilateral, but in comparing scans with previous scans, they are very similiar in how they present on vaginal u/s. Hoping, and praying, for removal to be quickly, as Christmas holidays are almost upon us, and since we are military, and our docs are military, fear that he may have plans to go home for Christmas, not to mention, at the rate it is growing, chances of losing that ovary also increase with each new growth size.

Dr. M: Why do the cystadenomas destroy the ovaries, such as my previous one removed on 11/17 did? Pathologist said he couldn't tell where my ovary stopped and the tumor began, it was so involved. And why can't these cystadenomas be detected as such at a smaller size on ultrasound? Also, as my final pathology came back with LMP (low malighnant potential aka borderline) what would you suppose that the chances of this being the same on the right side? Do you think tissue sampling, lymph node testing, omentum testing would be in order? Am very bumfuzzled, as never before this have I ever had any ovarian problems. What would make this just all of a sudden jump on an otherwise healthy 33 year old? Is it something that I have done or not done? And if I am able to save this last remaining ovary, what would be the chances of this happening yet again? I know this isn't the cause, but it seems like we were transferred to Colorado from the Coast, can't help but blame the altitude and climate - lol - that's just a joke, by the way! But seriously, I've always been healthy and tried to take really good care of myself. Have I done something wrong for this to what now looks like has happened to both ovaries within just a few months time? Do I need to take any extra precautions or maybe start going for exams every few months for a while? This has really been a scary and painful ordeal, not to mention, extremely frustrating, as it has almost brought my normal life to a standstill for almost 3 months now. Can't help but feel like it's something that I could have prevented.

With kind regards, Victoria
