Re: AmenorrheaFrom: Holly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 8 Dec 1999 09:27:26 -0600 (CST)
Robin: Thanks for your reply. I have had two periods or so since Caleb's birth. I was on birth control pills starting 4 weeks post birth but my blood pressure starting going up and they were not sure if it was my thyroid medication or the pills. Finally I came off all medication one at a time and it does seem that it was the birth control pills. I would love to go to an endocrinologist but none of the GPs that i have seen will refer me, it's that HMO thing. I have a wonderful OBGYN specialist that I can see regarding future pregnancies. I was high risk with this child as I had oligohydramnios. Losing a child is very difficult but we were blessed that we were able to have three very beautiful days with our son. We had been asked to terminate this pregnancy at 17 weeks but chose to continue and receive amnioinfusions, which is what caused me to get an infection. However, Caleb was born with his lung developed as much as any 26 week child can have them developed. Most babies with oligo don't live but two or three minutes after birth, we were blessed with a miracle of three days. Once again, thank you for your answer. I am just really gun shy at medications as I never seem to do the "normal". I was on pregesterone cream this summer and it seemed to help. One doctor thought I might have an estrogen dominance problem. Thank you for time.
