Hysteroscopy.

A sonohysterogram (sonogram with water gently infused into the uterus to get a look at the inside of the cavity) may be helpful before the surgery to prepare them for what they might find.

A laparoscope is a telescope-like instrument which goes throught the belly button and allows a look at the organs of the pelvis and if necessary, the upper abdomen. A diagnostic laparoscopy just looks. An operative laparoscopy looks and treats.

the hysteroscopy causes no post-operative pain. the laparoscope feels like you did too many situps (according to what my patients say).
