chronic pelvic pain/lower back painFrom: treefrog (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 4 Dec 1999 20:58:40 -0600 (CST)
I have had problems with pelvic pain and severe lower back pain for a few years now. The pain is on my lower left quadrant, and is like horrid menstrual cramps, but not just at the time of my period. It always comes with the severe lower back pain, a pain that is not muscular in nature, and which my primary doc says is not structural either. Sometimes the pain is so bad my left thigh hurts too. I have also had bowel problems, which I was told is IBS after having a colonoscopy a few years back. Sometimes I have bladder pain....not pain with urination, but a nagging pain right at my pubic bone. A real mishmash of symptoms. My periods have also gotten worse....they are irregualr, but last 4-5 days, with 2 of those days being very heavy bleeding.....soaking super tampons AND pads frequently. Cramps are so bad, I have to lie with a heating pad to take the edge off. I take Naprosyn or Advil (800mg) for the pain I described above, with little avail. I've had 2 ultrasounds which showed nothing. Last year I tried 3 months of birth conrol pills with no luck. Last week, I finally had a lap, to check for endo. She didn't find anything there, either. I was starting to think the pain must really be all in my head, till 2 days ago I started to gets that old pain back. Now I know it's real, because if it was in my head, it would have gone away since they didn't find anything, follow me? The pain is so bad, I have no idea what else it could be...BTW, I've had cultures and my urine, and checked for STDs, both negative. What else could be causing my pain? What should my next step be? And where can I go for support? Thank you and sorry this is so long....
