From my knowledge as a patient, an endoscopy is the scope that is put down your throat and into your stomach to look for ulcers. The Colonoscopy looks for abnormalities in the colon, such as colitis. A colonoscopy is really one of the best tests out there for checking the colon. I have to have one done every three years due to my father dying at age 42 of colon cancer, and my maternal grandmother having colon cancer as well. They do sedate you for the test. The worst part is the prep, but there are many things you can do to help out with that. I personally recommend Magnesium Citrate (I'm not a Dr., just talking from my side of the fence...talk to your Dr. though). It tastes kind of like a salty 7-Up. If you drink it fast, it isn't too bad. Also, follow it with a chaser of a clear juice such as apple juice, or any other juice or drink your Dr. permits. I hope this helps. I know you don't want to go through this or any other test, but if it will lead to a proper diagnosis, then it really is in your best interest so you can get the proper treatment and get back to feeling better.
