Typical Endo Signs?From: Kimberly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Nov 1999 03:17:04 -0500
Hi, I have had endometriosis for several years, as did most other female members of my family. I had much of it removed in 1998, followed by a course of Lupron which damaged me further (see our website if you wish for information about the effects of Lupron, http://www.angelfire.com/ma2/APAL)....anyhow as it stands it seems that the endo has returned once again. I am again having increasingly painful, lengthy periods (though this time the most severe pain has seemed to switch ovaries), pain occuring mostly before and in the late parts of the cycles, bloating, nausea, occasional fever, diarrhea, etc. My wonderful OB/GYN has been very helpful to me throughout this, and before we try surgery again, she's having me visit a pain management clinic at the hospital beforehand. Anyhow...One of the things I've heard about endo is that it can cause pain during sexual activity, though I've yet to see anything very specific on the topic. When speaking of pain, are they referring to pain felt within the vagina or surrounding areas, or, do they mean that it's a pain from the ovaries contracting after climax? (Or any pain following climax, for that matter.) If it's the latter, would that be because the blood and tissue flow is restricted from the endometriosis clogging the Fallopian tubes? Approximately speaking, how often does either types of these pains occur in persons with endometriosis? Can they be caused by another condition? Thanks...I apologize for all the questions, but hope someone can shed a little light on the subject.
