As long as you get an IVP (kidney Xray) to show no problem there, you may be able to wait but need frequent followup and inability to visualize the ovaries due to the fibroids is a potential risk you must be willing to take. With ovarian cancer in a grandmother and colon cancer in a father, the possibility of a genetic basis in your famiy is not strong but rather "apparent". BTW, you should at least be having routine colonscopies due to your father's history.

FWIW, a "bikini" cut can frequently be done if the uterus is below the belly button AND mobile enough to maneuver through a lower incision.
