Re: Possible mistake during Hyst.From: Gina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 Nov 1999 16:10:06 -0600 (CST)
Hi Susan, I almost wasn't going to reply to this as to my ideas, but decided what the heck. I had a LAVH hysterectomy and a seperate BSO a month later. >From the complications I had, I can take some "guesses" as to what to rule out as to the cause of your pain/problems. 1st of all, and not to gross anyone out, but during a TAH all of your intestines are removed from your body, and then are put back in! It is possible they didn't put yours back in correctly or that yours are being pinched somehow by an organ (didn't settle into place well, etc). Are you having any bowel problems at all? 2nd, it could be a very large hematoma which is a hardened pool of blood that floats around pressing up against things, causing pain and pressure. These can be removed, or drained and I believe it would show on a CT scan and maybe ultra sound. It's highly unlikely that you have adhesions in an area that has never been touched surgically or traumatized otherwise. If you have endometriosis then it could spread to that area and that can be ruled out by a GYN and a lap surgery. If you have ever had pelvic inflammatory disease and it spread that far, you could get adhesions there. But I would rule out the 1st 2 since they seem much more likely. Gina
