Hello Dr. M, I have a question for myself and several other women on the hystersisters site I belong to. I had a total LAVH hysterectomy on 8/12/99 and on 9/15/99 had my ovaries and tubes removed also (lap). I use progesterone cream for menopause symptoms and it works great, I am very happy with that (I can't take estrogen). What I'd like to know is...why am I still having cycles even though I no longer have ovaries or a uterus? I still get back-aches, irritable, pain in area of ovaries as if having cramps, around the time of when my menstrual cycle would be? Several other women on our board are having the same phenomenon and we're all wondering if this is normal? And why or how it happens?
