P.C.O.SFrom: Michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 28 Nov 1999 12:32:56 -0600 (CST)
I am 28 yrs old & for 11 yrs I've been told that it's normal for me not to get my period for months at a time,I've been on medicines to 'bring on' my period, but that only lasts for so long.I've had tiny cysts removed by laser on my cervix approx.10yrs ago & I've had a cyst the size of a tangerine come & go for a few yrs.The Dr.s told me that I most likely wiil not be able to bear children. They never removed that cyst. When I was 20 I became pregnant and had a normal delivery, only after she was born she was hospitalized w/strep-B infection & put on I.V. fluids,I later found out that I am a carrier for Strep-B.Thank God she is healthy & o.k.now.while pregnant I gained alot of weight(from 115lbs to 170lbs.)For years I've tried to lose it & nothing worked,I also tried becoming pregnant again when my 1st child was 5yrs old, I was put on medicine to bring on my periods & then put on Clomid to become pregnant,My eggs do not drop which causes my hormonal system to be all messed up.For 2yrs nothing worked & I stopped all medicines & just took Folic Acid & dhea.Well after that I became pregnant again! All healthy, the only thing is I still don't get my periods & I'm VERY overweight,ALWAYS tired,&losing my hair for a while now,& I have acne on the back of my arms & lots of facial hair.A friend of mine was telling me that her daughter went to a endoconologist & was diagnosed w/ P.C.O.S. This is the 1st time I have heard of it,Could it be that I might have the symptoms of P.C.O.S?? And how could it not be detected after all these years and office visits that nobody refered me to a endroconologist,They've done blood tests &Thyroid tests but all normal,Just the Strep-B comes & goes.Any suggestions on what I should do I do if it is P.C.O.S & what type of Dr. should I see? This has been soo frustrating for so many years,Please help w/ some advice. Thank you in advance.
