Maybe try different brands until you find one you like. I have had the same problem as you in the past, and started using "OB" tampons about 10 years ago. They don't have an applicator and I use a little bit of KY to insert them, and do not have problems removing them. I will agree with the others, if your flow is light and the tampon is not somewhat saturated it will be a little difficult to remove. Good luck to you.
