pain in lower left quadrantFrom: Marcy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 15 Nov 1999 13:13:53 -0600 (CST)
Dear Dr., During the last few months immediately prior to ( within 2 -3 days) and during the first 2-3 days of my period I have had a sharp, constant pain in my lower left side (at the level of my hipbone). It can be very painful at times--enough to make me stop what I'm doing and try to lie down and relax to make it go away somewhat. I'm assuming that it has something to do with my cycle but am concerned as to what it could be. The first 2 times it occured, I mistakenly thought it was a UTI (I have severe reflux and have had many UTIs) but after cultures were done, it was NOT at UTI. I just had my annual pap smear which came back with the result "benign cellular changes". I'm due to go back for another pap in January as a follow up. Could this result be related to the pain I am having? Should I call my GYN now instead of waiting for January? Also, just a side note--I delivered a baby in Sept of 98 and it was a hard delivery which both the vacuum extractor and forceps had to be used. Thanks!
-- Marcy
