ABO incompatablility-for Christine SmithFrom: JHC (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 04 Nov 1999 10:10:40 -0600
Christine, I have typed this message twice in the last few days and for some reason it has not appeared on the list as a message. Anyway, you asked in your response (by the way thank you for responding to my question) if the woman that donated eggs to me had a type and Rh done. The answer is, yes, but the information was not available to me when I chose her as a donor (she was anonymous to me). I asked prior to the embryo transfer if blood type could present a problem and they said since I was Rh +, it should not be a problem. I read your answer to Bryce's post and it sparked another question. When I talked to my son's pediatrician about blood incompatablilities he mentioned that certain antibodies could also result in hemolysis of red cells and jaundice. He said that he would be interested in having a more comprehensive blood workup of our donor. I know in the past that type and Rh are usually the only things that they look at in pregnancy, but are other antibody incompatabilities a reasonable worry? Thank you for all of your good information. Regards, Jclarke
