birth control and pregnancy

My wife and I have been married 10 months tomorrow. She has been taking Alesse (sp??) for apx. 15 months now. Last month (Oct), she began the placebo pills on the 17th (normal), and began her period on the 20th (a little later than normal, but not the latest that she has had it), and it lasted the normal length. She did mention that it was lighter than normal, but not light enough to be different than what she has had in the past.

The night of 24 October, she was very il (throwing up, upset stomach, etc...). She felt better the next day. This past weekend, she felt bad again (upset stomach, tired, etc...) and it has continued through today (when we left to come to school, she was still feeling poorly). Yesterday morning (Sun. 31 oct), she felt bad, but by the time I got home from church, her stomach settled down, but she still felt tired and worn out. On Sat, 30 Oct, che called her mom to talk. Her mom said that it could be that she is pregnant. B/c of this, she brought by a home pregnancy test (the kind that has a + if you are, and a - if you are not). It came up negative. Sat night, I took her temp. and got a temp of 99-100. However, I don;t think that was accurate b/c before we went to bed, I tried to take her temp again, and the thermometer read the same. I ran it under cold water and shook it and it would not go down (so, I don't trust that reading at all).

Today, we are going up to student health center to have her looked at. The last time we had sexual inercourse was around the 13th. Is pregnancy something that we ought to be concerned about? Or could it be a mild case of the flu?

I have some other questions about birth control, that I will post later b/c my wife just informed me that she has an appointment set up for 20 min from now. Thanks for your help.
