To expand on Patti's excellent and very thorough response below, some
people have gastointestinal problems with calcium carbonate (Tums, Os
Cal, Caltrate, most generics) and many do better with calcium citrate
(Citracal), tricalcium phosphate (Posture) or calcium gluconate. Speak
to both your doctor and your pharmacist.
