Presuming you have regular periods, this is more likely hot flushes (without sweats) that occur in 15-25% of women 35 and above. Although they can be caused by "stress" (however anyone wishes to define that) they can also be associated with "swings" in the estrogen level in the body, going from high to low to high. Going back on birth control pills would probably eliminate this but other possible choices could be soy protein and/or Remifemin (black cohosh), the latter being OK if your liver function tests are normal.
