Hi Renee,

The size of the fibroid does not make much difference as to whether or not it is symptomatic. Some women have very small fibroids like yours that cause severe problems and other women with huge fibroids can be symptom free.

I had good size fibroids (I was 2 1/2 month size) and I had excessive bleeding. You maybe feeling poorly because of blood loss. I was so anemic, that I was dizzy most of the time. Are you on an iron supplement? You might want to check with your doctor. I did not have irregular bleeding, just very heavy and lots of clots. Extreme fatigue. I had pelvic pain and some pain with intercourse. I was diagnosed with endometriosis when I had my hysterectomy for the fibroids.

There is always the chance that there could be a malignancy, but they would not know that until a biopsy was done. What plans have you and your doctor come up with? There are other ways to treat fibroids other than a hysterectomy. There is myomectomy in which the fibroids are removed. I am not sure if taking something like Lupron or Depo Provera would help with your symptoms or not. You need to talk with your doctor.

I am not a doctor, but I don't think this necessarily sounds like cancer. Like I said before, because you are having heavy bleeding, that will make you feel crummy. As for the irregular bleeding, I think that fibroids can do that, but your doctor could tell you more. You might want to be checked for endometriosis too.

What age range are you in. If you are closer to menopausal age, it might be a little more of a concern about cancer, but, fibroids are strange beasts. I bet and I hope that it is just a fibroid.

Talk to your doctor about your concerns.

I wish you the best.
