It was initally put onto me by a rheumotologist after I had no luck with other doctors. I too was at the stage where walking was painful, but he put me through an intense programme with a physical therapist and after a few weeks, the exercise went from increasing the pain to assisting it and now it is my lifesaver. Think carefully before you make a decision regarding surgery. What is best for you? If you think the doctors are right then go for it. I still don't really trust doctors. My adhesions resulted from delayed surgery and I was in hospital five days before anything was done. In that time, barely any tests were done and I was pumped full of pain killers. So, to let another doctor loose on me isn't on the agenda at present! Look after yourself, Kate.
